Planned Giving

There are several ways that your generosity can create a legacy for your church and preserve a legacy for your family. With thoughtful planning, you can identify what is best for you. Very few people need to engage in complex planning to make a legacy gift. Simply designating Holy Comforter as a recipient of a portion of your IRA or 401(k), naming Holy Comforter as a beneficiary in an insurance policy, or including a bequest to Holy Comforter in your will, ensures that love continues to grow here for years to come.

Planned gifts may be designated to the Holy Comforter Foundation which grants money to further the mission and ministry of the church. Gifts may also go to the general fund, or to specific ministries such as those listed below.

If you intend to make a planned gift, we invite you to join the Dove Circle. Your name may be listed when we recognize givers; however, you do have the option to remain anonymous.

For more information read the Planned Giving Brochure or Planned Giving Frequently Asked Questions.

To start a conversation or to learn more about planned giving, contact a member of the Foundation or send an e-mail to: [email protected].

Alden Music Fund

The Alden Music Fund enables special musical programming throughout the year outside the purview of the annual operating budget.

The Alden Fund includes compensation for our Choral Scholars and guest musicians. Your gifts are most appreciated and welcomed! If you have questions, please contact Patrick Pope in the church office.

When you make your donation, please indicate "Alden Music Fund" in the Special Instructions Field.

Mason Gash Acolyte Fund

The Mason Gash Acolyte Fund was established in April 2020 to honor the memory of Mason, son of Cindy and Ed Gash.

When Mason was an acolyte at Holy Comforter from 1997 until 2005, he took the responsibility very seriously and was soon chosen by the clergy to be a Master Acolyte. He made it a point to pray with his team before each service. The late Reverend Carter Lofton referred to Mason as one of the finest acolytes who ever served with him.

The purpose of this fund is to provide robes and other supplies for acolytes as needed. It may also be used for acolyte retreats, or any other training or activity as deemed worthy by the adult acolyte leaders and clergy in charge.

To donate, simply donate online below or make a check out to Holy Comforter, with MGAF on the “for” line.

When you make an online donation, please indicate "Mason Gash Acolyte Fund" in the Special Instructions Field.

At Holy Comforter, we are blessed to be stewards of a legacy that we inherited from generations before us, and we have an opportunity to continue that legacy for generations to come. Even small planned gifts can make a big difference in the lives of our parishioners and community.

Capital campaigns are conducted every few years to fund major and long-term expenses and capital investments in the church. Our most recent capital campaign, Making Room for the Spirit, was completed in 2018 and successfully raised over $1.2 million to renovate the Atkinson building, reduce debt, purchase the property next door at 2729 Park Road, and conduct strategic site planning for the future.
