How Do You Shine? Women's Retreat
On the weekend of March 2, I joined over 30 other women from Holy Comforter on our Women’s Retreat in Valle Crucis. It was a wonderful two days of socializing, prayer, reflection, fun, hiking, and good food. It was refreshing for the soul! We were led in our retreat by a Spiritual Director, Rosemary Hagan, and the thing that has most stuck with me is her reminder that God is at work in us through our strengths. It’s so easy to become fixated on our failings - for the things we feel we don’t do well enough to always be foremost in our mind. To always be striving to be different or better than we are, or feeling guilty for not striving! I have been caught in this rut. But joy and fulfillment can be found in realizing that those things we ARE good at are the ways in which God moves through us. Focusing on how we already shine will let us be even brighter stars of hope in the world. So I encourage you to think of how you shine, and let that be the focus of your self-thoughts and gratitude.
