What is Nourish Up?
Volunteers from the parish and community work together to assist our neighbors by providing food from our Nourish Up pantry. Nourish Up provides meat, fresh produce, and canned food which are supplemented with donations directly to our pantry.
How to Get Groceries
To receive a week’s supply of nutritionally balanced groceries, a referral is necessary or call 704-523-4333. Our pantry is open to serve our neighbors five days a week. We also partner with Promising Pages and provide free children’s books to each family.
How to Donate to Nourish Up at Holy Comforter
The pantry is located at the side of the Van Every building along the driveway, with a Nourish Up sign by the door. Food donations may be brought to the pantry between 10 a.m. – 12 noon Monday through Friday, left in the church office, or placed by the inside pantry door in Van Every at other times.
Items that are most needed: Fresh vegetables and fruit, bread, eggs; canned vegetables, fruit, soup, meat such as tuna, chicken, Spam; pasta, peanut butter, cereal; feminine hygiene products, diapers, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, deodorant, cleaning supplies, toilet paper. Please: no food items that are unsealed, expired, loose without listed ingredients, unlabeled, or in glass containers.
Financial gifts to the Holy Comforter Nourish Up pantry can be made by checks payable to Holy Comforter, designated for Holy Comforter NU Pantry, and mailed to:

How to Donate to the Nourish Up Warehouse
Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the Nourish Up warehouse, located at 901 Carrier Drive, Charlotte, NC 28216, Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., or you can shop the Amazon Wish List and have items delivered directly to their door.

History of Nourish Up at Holy Comforter
Holy Comforter opened the first Loaves & Fishes food pantry (which has now become Nourish Up) in Charlotte in 1975, thanks to the dedication, inspiration, and determination of parishioner Virginia Sampson. For more information, contact Jane Crutchfield.
