What's NEW at the Church?
If you have been on campus over the past few weeks, you've undoubtedly noticed a significant amount of work being done on both the exterior and interior of our buildings.
The brick, mortar, stone and pre-cast cement on both buildings and the columbarium have been pressure-washed, steam-washed, treated and sealed (and mortar replaced where needed) so that stains will not adhere and water will not soak in, thus eliminating some of the interior staining issues we have experienced in the past. (Those big white spots in the sanctuary.) The efflorescence in the nave and sanctuary was removed as best as possible. We diverted several downspouts to carry more water away from building foundations. In addition, the mismatched brick and mortar was replaced by the white door, so that everything now blends seamlessly and looks much better. The slate roof at the Atkinson entrance was power washed, as were many of the sidewalks. Van Every roofs also had stains cleaned. The exterior of the windows were washed. Several fence posts were repaired with new cement base and a new cement pad was poured at the backflow preventer pump. Painting in the main hallway of Van Every, Room 207 and most door and window frames was completed.
The result is a beautiful campus that is ready for fall and will be structurally more sound in the years to come.
