Cultivating Beauty and Wonder: High Performance Planting for the Pollinators
Carla Hanzal learned gardening from her mother as multiple gardens fed the family and the oasis of her mother's expansive flower beds attracted migrating monarchs. The smell of saturated earth after a hard rain, for her, remains the most intoxicating perfume--a fragrance that immediately takes her back to that beginning. A practicing arts planner and curator, the garden has now become Carla's new place to orchestrate color, pattern, lines, and texture.
Through experimentation--successes and failures--her urban space is becoming a habitable place for pollinators, birds, insects and amphibians. By partnering with them, she is transforming her yard into a place where beauty and wonder reside. Absorbing the deep spiritual principles that are learned through getting in proximity to the earth, she is grateful for the lessons generously offered day by day and season by season.
Join the Darrow-Owens group as Carla shares her gardening experiences and techniques Monday, April 17 at 6:00pm in Henry Hall.
