AGC Kickoff - Octoberfest!
Saturday, October 5, 2024, 6:00 PM
Oour Annual Giving kickoff party on Saturday, October 5 at 6 pm. Bring a side or dessert. There will be brats, beer and potentially some Jimmy Buffet tunes, as well as our inagural Holy Comforter haiku contest judged by Mary Cox! RSVP (so we know how many brats to prep!) for the evening and for childcare at this link: https://forms.gle/77cTB5m32ucGpbTe8
About that haiku contest—Haiku are poems in a form borrowed from Japanese poetry: Seventeen syllables in three lines—five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, five in the third. No rhymes. Those are the only rules in our haiku contest—except: No political topics! Your haiku can win in any of these categories: Traditional haiku—response to nature, seasons; Church/faith; Sports & hobbies; Arts; Family and friends; Foolishness, flapdoodle and Snarku. There will also be a grand prize winner. Decisions by the haiku judge will be entirely arbitrary, and winners will definitely receive a certificate (negotiations are underway for a prize for the grand prize winner).
Find what inspires you,
seek out the words—will they fit?
(Count on your fingers.)
