Baptisms, Weddings & Funerals
How Do I?
Many of the most frequent questions we receive center around life changes and how the church can be present for you during these times. We hope this quick reference answers your initial questions.
Should I let you know when I have a baby?
Yes! We love to hear great news! There is a form on our website that allows you to enter information about your new addition. We then pray for the child – and your family – in church. Of course, you can always call the office at 704.332.4171 to tell let us know!
How do I have my child baptized?
Baptism is the sacramental welcoming of a person into the Church, the Body of Christ, so it is essential that at least one parent be active in the life and ministry of a parish. For further information about baptism, contact Jessica Dunlap to make an appointment to speak with one of the clergy.
What do I do if I’m hospitalized?
Our clergy welcome your calls when you or a family member is seriously ill or hospitalized. Please call the Church Office during business hours at 704.332.4171. After hours, our automated answering system offers an emergency number.
Whom do I call to make funeral arrangements?
Please call a member of the clergy as quickly as possible after the death of a member of the church or another family member. Please call the Church Office during business hours at 704.332.4171. After hours, our automated answering system offers an emergency number. We also offer funeral planning that allows members to leave behind their instruction and direction for the service. Please call Jessica Dunlap to schedule a meeting.
How do I get married at Holy Comforter?
At Holy Comforter are blessed with a picturesque and historic church building. Oftentimes, folks who see the church naturally want to make it a backdrop for their wedding. However, at Holy Comforter, we understand marriage to be a Sacrament of the church that is celebrated in the parish in which you hold membership. It is anticipated that, under normal circumstances, those who marry at Holy Comforter will nurture their marriage in the context of this worshiping community. If you decide to become a member of Holy Comforter and wish to marry here, please contact Jessica Dunlap to make an appointment with one of the clergy who will answer your specific questions.
