Adult Christian Formation
We have numerous opportunities for learning and fellowship for adults at Holy Comforter. Whether you’re a new Episcopalian, a longtime parishioner, or a visitor, we hope you’ll want to explore these educational programs, many of which are held on Sunday mornings during The Hour (from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. between our morning worship services) in our programming year (September through May).
Sunday Morning Adult Christian Formation takes place from September through May and begins at 9:15 a.m. There is typically a clergy or guest-led Forum on rotating topics as well as The Exchange, which encourages dialog and open discussion on the topic at hand. Past classes have included The Real Art of Forgiveness, A Journey through Epiphany with Episcopal Migration Ministries, The Bible in a Year Challenge and more. We can’t wait for you to see what we have planned for the future! Drop-ins are always welcome and encouraged in all of our classes!
Advent and Lent offer opportunities for intergenerational events that encourage thoughtful preparation for the celebrations of Christmas and Easter.
Holy Comforter 101 and Foundations of Our Faith are offered periodically, and provide a wealth of information about the origins, history, and beliefs of the Episcopal Church, as well as information about our parish. These classes are for those who are new to Holy Comforter, new to the Episcopal Church, who are Episcopalian but would like to know more about what we do and why we do it, and for those who are considering Confirmation or Reception in the church.
The Tuesday Morning Brunch Bunch is a group of senior parishioners and their friends who gather at 10 a.m. each Tuesday from September through May for fellowship, prayer, and the study of Scripture.
To make attending these events easier for parents, we typically provide childcare during Sunday morning and evening Adult Education events. To make childcare arrangements, contact Director of Children’s Ministries Sarah Cavins at 704.332.4171 extension 206.
