Kids are at Home in God's House

God put the wiggle in your children – so there’s no need to suppress it here! We take Jesus’ charge to “let the children come to me” seriously. During the program year, we offer nursery for children under 3, Sunday School for younger kids, youth group for those in grades 6 – 12, and fun activities that build faith and fellowship year round.

Music

Find your place in Holy Comforter’s Music Ministry

In his letter to the Corinthians, Saint Paul encourages readers to “sing with the spirit, and with the understanding also” (1 Corinthians 14:15). This spiritual principle guides the music program at Holy Comforter, which is committed to offering music of beauty and high quality in weekly worship. Dedicated volunteers give of themselves and their time in the parish’s various musical ensembles.

Newcomers and members with musical interests and abilities are invited to contact Patrick Pope, organist and director of music, at (704) 332-4171, ext. 212.

Music in Worship

The Anglican heritage of worship and music, centuries old yet always enriched by modern influences, is a rich and vital part of congregational life at Holy Comforter. The clergy and musicians in the parish take seriously their role as leaders of communal prayer, speech, singing, and thanksgiving. Offered to the glory of God, the liturgies of the parish are prepared with care and enthusiasm.

All Sunday services include music: During the program year (September through Trinity Sunday) the 8:00 a.m. Rite II Eucharist is a simpler service that includes organ voluntaries and congregational singing of hymns. The 10:30 a.m. Rite II Eucharist includes sung leadership by the Holy Comforter Choir. Traditional Anglican hymnody, choral music, and instrumental music are hallmarks of this service, and particular emphasis is placed on congregational singing. At the 12:30 p.m. Rite II La Misa en Español, music for guitar is featured.
