Holy Comforter is a welcoming and inclusive program-sized parish with a strong history of outreach and innovation across the city and the diocese, embodied most recently by our growing Hispanic outreach and education ministries and our increasing efforts to aid special-needs persons in our congregation and wider community. We are a “broadchurch” parish, favoring the beautiful traditions of Episcopal liturgy and music while embracing warmth, diversity and accessibility.
As a parish, we feel poised for growth. Charlotte is an amazing city, and our diocese and bishops are strong. The Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina is led by two strong bishops and serves 49,000 persons in 117 congregations in the central part of North Carolina.
There are so many reasons we at Holy Comforter are proud to call Charlotte home. With an area population of more than 2.5 million, Charlotte offers all the advantages of a major metropolitan area, yet its distinct neighborhoods preserve a small town feel. Charlotte is a recognized leader in health care and a strong financial center boasting seven Fortune 500 headquarters. The area offers 34 institutions of higher education and supports a thriving arts community as well as enough major and minor league teams to please any sports fans. Charlotte’s cost of living is lower than all but 7 other major U.S. cities. Couple that with amazing weather, easy access to North Carolina’s breathtaking mountains and famed beaches, and you’ll see why we love living in Charlotte.
